It is VERY important that your child brings his/her binder to school every single day. Organization is a very important key to student success. This binder will hold weekly word work, reading and/or math logs, planners, teacher/parent communication, homework packets, and more Please help your child by checking the "Return to School" pocket and by cleaning out the "Keep at Home" pocket each night.
Homework Expectations Students should expect to have homework in math and reading/language arts each night Monday through Thursday. (I will rarely assign homework on Fridays.) Other subjects will also be assigned occasionally. Assigned homework will be written in student planners as directed by teacher each afternoon. Parents should ask to see all homework assignments written in the planner for the corresponding day. Students are expected to complete all homework and turn it in the first thing the next morning. ** ALL HOMEWORK SHOULD BE TAKEN HOME TO BE SHOWN TO PARENT OR GUARDIAN EVEN IF THE HOMEWORK WAS FINISHED AT SCHOOL.** If a student worked ahead at school and finished homework, I expect them to show the homework to a parent and explain it. Discussing homework is very important.
HEALTHY SNACKS Due to our later lunch time this year, your child is permitted and ENCOURAGED to bring a light, HEALTHY snack each day. Please pack something healthy for your child in a small baggy or container that is not messy and will be easy for them to eat while learning. Some suggestions are: fruit (such as bananas, grapes, raisins or anything not requiring a fork or spoon), carrots, dry cereal, small crackers, fruit snacks, etc. *NO PEANUT BUTTER OR PEANUT/NUT PRODUCTS PLEASE*
